My bussiness, that is. Funny thing happened. I found a website that does free bussiness cards. You just pay the postage. So I was playing around, looking, going backward and forward, you know, just contemplating, and all of the sudden, the system said: Order confirmed. What the…? And that’s how I chose my bussiness name. Handmade treasures. At one point it asked me for a name, so I wrote down first thing that came to my mind. And now I have 250 bussiness cards with a name I don’t even know if I like. But I guess I’ll keep it. I’m going with the flow, you know.

So you can say that it’s official. As of today, I sold about 11 items. I have order for one more. And I promised myself and others that I will finally come up with something else then head gear. I have plans. Many plans. Do I have time? Not so much. Once someone orders something, I want it to be posted next day. Unless we agree otherwise. I’m hard on myself, I know. But it has to work. I need it to work. I don’t want to fail, I don’t want to dissapoint others and me. I’m commited. And now you know too.

I have decided to delete my personal posts. Not delete, just hide them. For now. I know that people will find this little space of mine and I’m not comfortable sharing my personal details with everyone. Funny, why do I post them on the internet then? But you know how it is. Deep down you want to believe that only the people you know and love will read your words. But the reality is that anyone can read them. The most personal, the deepest thoughts. Right now I don’t even remember why I wrote most of it. But I’m going with the flow. Remember people, the flow.

I’ll try to update more often. But if you want to see what I’ve been working on, check my flickr account. And if you fancy any of my little creations, let me know. I’ll do my best to comply with your wishes :-)

Assalamu alaikum, I’m sorry I’m not updating as often as I intended. But I do have a valid excuse this time!

I’ve started crocheting full time :-) No, really, I made few hats and gave them away as presents. And people asked for more. I looked at other designs too and well, few weeks later, it seems like I have an official shop! I have few, actually. But it doesn’t matter because people don’t order stuff through them anyway.

You can view my stuff on flickr or check out my shop at folksy. The other shop I have is in my country so no point to  link it here.

So I have to take an official leave from this blog, I have orders waiting to be proceeded (I never though I would say that :-) )

Also, have you know about this and this? I’m so dissapointed I missed the Cambridge fair but their admin emailed me saying they are planning another one for Xmas. So I’m really looking forward to that now.

Remember when I said that I planned but Allah, swt, had other plans? That’s exactly how I feel now. I’ve dreamed of selling my things for so long but nothing ever happened. And now, with no planning whatsoever, I have customers and they come to me, I don’t have to beg them to order from me :-) . And I know this won’t probably last forever but right now? I’m loving it. I really am. And it has given me the confidence to really try to sell my stuff because it really is good enough to be sold (something I never really admitted to myself until now).

So anyway, can you tell I am excited?

It’s almost midnight and I really have to go to bed and get some sleep, I have a lot to do tomorrow and not much time to do it :-)

I’ll pop in from time to time. But for now, take care of yourself!

I couldn’t be bothered to clean up my old flickr account so I created a new one:

Flickr

I’ll try to move everything I ever made to this account but can’t promise. I don’t even know where most of the pictures are…

I’m still waiting for my new yarn to arrive so I crocheted DS a hat yesterday. Well, I started yesterday and finished it today. Fairy quick, easy and very, very variable. I’ll probably make more of them, inshaAllah.

Just something to keep my busy, that’s all…

Assalamu alaikum,

so yes, crochet was one of the things that I never really tried and never even wanted to. It just wasn’t appealing enough. Until I saw some pictures on the flickr, pictures of gorgeous granny squares! That’s when I realised what I’ve been missing. The colors! I love knitting and sewing and now I love crocheting as well. It even more portable then knitting because I don’t have to worry about my work getting unravelled (so easy, unfortunatelly). Crochet is bit more reliable, you know?

So I decided to make DS a blanket. Yet another blanket. All I do is making blankets! Boring old me. But I don’t have the courage to make a full sized blanket yet so there you go. Another present for DS.

For the time being I’m just making lots of granny squares. I have 19 so far, 2 two rows circles and 4 one row circles. I guess I’ll need like a hundred, I don’t even know. I don’t WANT to know :-) Good thing is that it takes like 15 minutes to make a granny square and the gratification is instant. It’s easy, its beautiful. So I’m not in rush to finish it. It’s great to have something to in between other projects.

As for other projects, I finally bought yarn for my february lady sweather. I won an auction on ebay yesterday, Alhamdlillah, managed to get 15×50g of RYC 100% cotton yarn! Alhamdulillah!!! It’s like 3.50£ per ball in the shop and I got 15 of them for just over 21£!! Can you believe it? Sometimes it’s worth waiting. Although I suffer. My patience is almost non-existent. In fact, this is the first project that I actually plan. InshaAllah it will be worth it.

DS is watching In The Night Garden. MashaAllah. That’s why I ramble on an on and on.

Anyway, time for lunch. Oh, one last thing. I bought a new book :-) Or my DH bought me a book, whichever way you want it :-) It’s the Knitter’s Almanac by E. Zimmermann. You know, it’s completely different then I though it would be. And I like it. It’s like reading someone’s diary, only it’s about knitting. I’ve heard that it’s a great book, worth buying, and I have to say it’s true. Alhamdulillah.

I have to do some spring cleaning on flickr. People have asked for the pics of my work and having a flickr link ready is useful. So InshaAllah, another thing on my to-do list. As if I don’t have enough. Alhamdulillah!

Yes, that’s what I am. A copy cat. I can’t do anything unique so I just copy everyone else. Having said that, it’s time to announce another big project of mine.

The february lady sweater.

Ok, I know it’s not february (Alhamdulillah) and I know it might be a bit out of my league but I’m going to try anyway. Right now I’m in the process of finding suitable, beautiful yarn that is not too expensive (as my DH commented: wouldn’t it be cheaper to just buy one??? – Probably yes but I’m looking forward to the proccess of knitting it as well as the finished product). So I’m lurking on ebay, waiting for that wonderful cheap yarn to appear. I’m going to go either for Rowan Cashsoft DK or Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK or Debbie Bliss Pure Cotton. I’m not too bothered about the color, don’t want anything too dark or too light (so black and white colors our out of the question). Maybe cream or light blue, grey, or maybe something more exciting, red or orange?? I don’t know. It all depends on the price :-(

So InshaAllah, I’ll start sometimes next week. Or the week after. This is the first project that I actually plan ahaed. Usually I just start working on something, dealing with problems as they come. But this sweater I want to do right. Just right.

That’s the best I could do today…

Assalamu alaikum, so I fihished it! The WIP from the last post, the one I didn’t want to talk about much because I wasn’t at all confident I would finish it. But I did it! I loved knitting this. I finally feel like a knitter. Now, when people ask me if I knit, I can say YES. No more scarfes, mittens or hats (not that they are not considered proper knitting, not at all, I’m just a overachiever). dsc07848a dsc07850a So now onto another project. Hmmm, don’t know what. But I love the patterns at NaturallyCaron website, they have free knit AND crochet patterns, all I need to do now is choose. What do you think abou this skirt? Cool, no? Hippy :-) Or I love this bag: Or this: And I didn’t ever show you anything from the knitted section. Go and have a look:

Don’t have proper stich markers? Have to do without them then!

Sorry about the light, I took the picture in my kitchen where 2 bulbs out of 4 are actually not working and it was 8 am.

And what is the WIP? A vest for DS. Will tell you more when I feel at least little bit confident that I might actually finish it one day.
